About the book of Jonah
God's passion for evangelism is so much greater than ours yet the Living God insists on reaching the world through His church, through His people. Not only does this book show us one of the most powerful pictures of the death and resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ, but the book of Jonah is also a demonstration of the power of God the Evangelist even through His unfaithful and reluctant people. Jonah has to learn of God's great compassion even for the most wicked people. If He will hear Jonah when Jonah is falling into death, then He will also hear the people of Nineveh when they call out for mercy from the depths of darkness. Jonah tells us that the LORD Jesus went into that darkness and death to rescue even us at our weakest and worst.
