Paul appears on all of the Book by Book DVDs and is the author of all the study guides.
Paul was born into an evangelical Christian home in Lancashire in the North of England. "My Dad is a Methodist local preacher, and I followed in his footsteps, beginning to train as a local preacher when I was fourteen. As I grew up, I saw many people become Christians in our home, and this gave me a deep confidence in the power of the gospel".
He studied theology at Kings College London. "I went with a conviction that the Word of God could not be out-argued or undermined so long as we begin and end with Christ Jesus. I found it hard to begin with, but in my final year I knew that liberal theology had nothing to offer or threaten the Christian". He finished his PhD on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit in the puritan writer and Congregationalist Thomas Goodwin.
While finishing his PhD Paul also lectured in Greek and Hebrew and went along to Speakers Corner in London with his wife, Liz. Every Sunday this area, dedicated to free speech, is packed with people and there are no restrictions on what you can or cannot say! Here he engaged with radical Muslim speakers and arguments against the Bible from every angle which further built his unshakeable trust in the power of the Word of God and of Jesus being at the centre of every page.
In 1995, Paul trained to be a Church of England minister at Oak Hill theological college, North London before joining All Souls Church, Langham Place, London as Associate Minister (Theology) two years later. He shared ministry with Richard Bewes, Rector, until his retirement. Paul is the author of the Book by Book series material which he co-hosts with Richard and is Chief Executive of Biblical Frameworks.
From 2008, Paul and his family planted a number of new churches:
Paul now works full time for Biblical Frameworks, developing future Book by Book titles and other ministries that introduce people to Jesus for the first time and deepen foundations for people who already know Jesus.
Paul and Liz have two sons, Jonathan and Paul, and a daughter, Anna.
